Lubec's main street

Still have a connection now that we’re just back from a
great dinners so I thought I would post dinner photos. Where did we go? Back to the U.S., actually – to Lubec, Maine
(the eastern-most town in the U.S.A)!
Just took a minute or two to clear customs and immigration and voila, we
were in the States again.

We headed to
the Water Street Tavern (the
eastern-most tavern in the U.S.A.), located – yes, you guessed it! On Water Street. It was just a couple of blocks from the
Roosevelt Bridge, and we were there in minutes.
We parked at the pier and then walked back to the Tavern, arriving there
about 5:35 p.m. EDT, 6:35 p.m. ADT.
Really nice place, simply but nicely furnished. Service was great, and so was the food! We
both started with bowls of lobster bisque, which was wonderful. Then, R had their steak and frites with a
mustard sauce and creamed spinach. He
ate every bite! I ordered their bacon
wrapped meat loaf with mashed potatoes and peas and carrots and topped with
onion rings – and I ate every bite too!
Then, R had their blueberry pie – just baked, and said it was the best
he had ever had (all berries, no filling).
It was interesting – it had only a bottom crust, but all the berries
stayed together; it was interesting. I
had their chocolate cake, which turned out to be more chocolate than cake, and,
while I do love chocolate, that much concentrated chocolate can be a bit
overwhelming, and it was. We were done
with dinner just as it was getting dark, and hurried back over the bridge and
to our motel before it got dark. We did
get some nice photos, which I will include.
Tomorrow we’re heading to St. John, New Brunswick, so I will post more
from there!
